Have a Liberal Arts Degree? These Companies Want to Hire You

You went through four years of college, studied long and hard, and made it to the other side, proudly holding your liberal arts degree. Or, not so proudly: Given all the talk lately of whether studying liberal arts is worth anything and the less-than-easy job market, it would be understandable if you were starting to doubt your degree.

Well, you shouldn’t! We’re here to tell you that there are plenty of companies looking for people with all kinds of degrees—and LinkedIn just came up with the data to prove it. We recently discovered LinkedIn for Education, which includes a great tool that aggregates data from the site’s user base to give you information about the paths of people with the same major as you. By searching your field of study, you can get information about which companies most people went to work for, what sorts of roles they filled, and more.

Curious, we decided to search for some of the most popular liberal arts majors that leave people unsure what to do next, and what we discovered surprised us! For example, many fine arts majors were able to find jobs doing design work with the likes of Apple and Target, and IBM seems to be hiring across all sorts of fields!
