Role: INTERN - Urban/Transportation Planner

Description: Tylok Mechanical Engineering co-op students engage in projects that improve products, lead productivity improvements, ensure the quality and safety of products, and enhance profitability. Co-op students gain hands-on experience with engineering in a manufacturing and design setting and assist in new product development and continues product improvement to maximize the success of the company.

While co-op students work primarily with engineers and other engineering co-op students, Tylok encourages interaction with the full cross-section of the enterprise, from machinist through executives and ownership.

Individual projects are typically assigned from a managed list of pre-approved projects driven by Tylok’s strategic plan, but some projects may be assigned in response to emerging demands. Progress is reviewed by the Plant Manager, Technical Director, Co-Op supervisor, and engineers during weekly meetings and by senior management and ownership at co-op completion. Co-op students are encouraged to set and pursue personal goals in addition to meeting project deadlines.

Description: As a First Year City Year AmeriCorps member, your service will focus on coaching and mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students who are struggling in school. You will help these students earn academic success, improve their attendance, learn social-emotional skills and develop positive behaviors at school. You will plan and monitor individual student progress and also work with teachers on whole class instruction, breakout spaces and other in-class student assistance. With your team, you will support afterschool programming and develop whole school activities to promote a positive school climate and encourage schoolwide student engagement.


As a valued member of the school community you will share in some or all of the responsibilities listed below. If you have not done all these things, that is okay. We don’t expect you to come in knowing how to do them and provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you. Plus, you will work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
