Description: The U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio is accepting applications for a one-year term student internship as part of the Model Intern Diversity Pilot Program offered through the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. This program is built on a foundation of diversity and innovation and exists to expose, develop and place talented and underserved undergraduate students in paid internships in federal courts around the country, and prepares them for future employment opportunities within the federal judiciary.


This unique and year-long internship is being offered to rising junior and senior undergraduate students and will be headquartered at the Carl B. Stokes U.S. Court House in Cleveland, Ohio. The incumbent will work full-time (no more than 40 hours/week) during the summer semester, and part-time (no more than 20-hours/week) during the Fall and Spring Semesters. The incumbent will work directly with federal judicial officers, court unit executives, federal practitioners, law enforcement officers and other court-system professionals performing or assisting in the performance of a variety of judicial, legal, and/or administrative functions within the federal judiciary.

Description: The Advanced Platform Technology Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Summer Internship Program (APT DEI SIP) is for undergraduate STEM and PreHealth (Medical, Nursing, Physical Therapy) students who have completed at least their sophomore year of college. The 10-week program, under the guidance of Drs. Allison Hess-Dunning and Jeff Capadona, APT-SIP Advisors, is scheduled from May 30, 2023 to August 4, 2023. Up to 8 interns will be selected. The internship will allow undergraduate STEM students to participate in cutting-edge biomedical research projects under the mentorship of world-class investigators at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic and other academic affiliates.


As part of the selection process, applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their preference for the investigator they will work with during the internship. Once selected, the investigator and intern will create a specific mini project. This mini project will constitute the core experience for the internship. In addition, students will receive mentoring, participate in group meetings, attend planned lectures and laboratory visits, and will present their research findings at the end of summer research symposium.

They will also learn schematic capture and PCB layout used to design embedded circuit boards on CAD. Students will also learn “C” programming of microcontrollers and be given the opportunity to design, build and test complete circuit boards.
