MORE INFORMATION FOR PRE-SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY AND AUDIOLOGY

Audiology is the science of hearing, balance, and related disorders. Audiologists are experts in the non-medical diagnosis and management of disorders of the auditory and balance systems.

Speech-language pathology (SLP) is the study and treatment of human communication and its disorders. Speech-language pathologists work with the full range of human communication to evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages, from infants to the elderly.

Speech-language pathology and audiology programs vary in terms of prerequisites, length, and application. Students at Cleveland State that major in Communication Sciences and Disorders will satisfy the prerequisites for the CSU graduate program, but need to research other programs for any additional courses required.
